We want to share some of the ways that we need your help most during the COVID-19 public health crisis.
Since March, the Food Bank has increased food distribution by 45% while donations from the grocery industry have decreased significantly.
We are purchasing in bulk, leveraging donated funds to get the most food. Due to social distancing, we cannot host volunteers, so donated food is sorted and boxed by our staff.
The most effective way to support the Food Bank is to donate funds so we can purchase food and pay the costs of transportation and additional staffing to get this work done.
By donating through our website, you can ensure that we have the resources to acquire and purchase food for our network of member agencies from Westerly to Woonsocket.
Get your friends and colleagues involved with your effort to help feed hungry Rhode Islanders. You can create your own personalized fundraising campaign to raise money for Rhode Islanders in need of food assistance. This is a great alternative to an in-person food drive if you are not back at your office or school.
Check out our fundraising tool and get started.
Since we can’t invite supporters into our building at the moment, we are happy to offer a 30 minute Zoom tour, info session and Q&A to engage your team and enhance your efforts. If you would like to schedule a session, please contact Kelly Seigh at email@example.com or 401-230-1679.
If you prefer to host a food drive, the foyer of the Food Bank at 200 Niantic Avenue in Providence is open M-F (except holidays) between the hours of 8am-4pm for the following:
Whole wheat pasta
|Canned & dried beans||Boxed macaroni & cheese|
|Canned soups & stews||Granola bars|
|Canned fruits & vegetables||Tomato sauce|
|Breakfast cereals||Extra virgin olive oil|
Please only donate healthy, nutritious food that is in good condition and “in date.” Foods six months past their expiration are not accepted. Keep in mind that, when conducting a food drive, it is best to request foods that are within date to limit the potential for expired product.
Also, no homemade products or glass jars of baby food, please. Boxed cereals and formula are welcome if unopened and within date code.
