Meet Our Panelists

Our panelists represent various perspectives on food insecurity in our state, from the nonprofit leaders advocating for change, to the agencies serving as our boots on the ground in providing food to those in need, to the lived experience of a Rhode Islander experiencing food insecurity.

Andrew Schiff, CEO, Rhode Island Community Food Bank

Schiff will present the findings of the 2024 Status Report and discuss the implications of the data with our panel.

Weayonnoh Nelson Davies, ED, Economic Progress Institute

Davies will share data from the EPI’s recent Standard of Need report, which highlights some of the contributing factors to poverty in Rhode Island.

Imani, Newport Resident, Guest of MLK Community Center

Imani will share her story around her experience with food insecurity.

Heather Hole Strout, ED, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center

Strout will share the agency perspective, discussing how MLK works to meet the needs of the Newport community and what she’s seeing at the pantry.
