Distributing Food to Rhode Islanders in Need

The Rhode Island Community Food Bank is a food distribution center which solicits, collects, stores and distributes donated, purchased, surplus and salvageable food.

Last year, the Food Bank distributed 11.6 million pounds of food through our network of 168 member agencies located across the state from Westerly to Woonsocket.  Here’s a look at how our distribution system works.

The majority of the food we distribute is core, healthy food that can be used to prepare a nutritious meal. Food is acquired from a variety of sources as you can see from the pie chart.
